Praying For Our Siblings
"Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!"
Psalm 133:1
Less about us and more about the souls of our siblings.
I AM MY BROTHER’S KEEPER
The role of a sibling in your life has a direct impact on who you become. In reality, siblings are our first introduction to friendship. How we nurture and cultivate those relationships with our siblings ultimately shape our relationships with others. I didn’t truly understand the impact my relationships with my siblings had on the person I am today until recently, when the Lord began to reveal the true depths.
During a month of emotional intelligence at my church home, we began to dig deep into the hidden traumas and triggers that were lying deep within our souls. During a Sunday Service, the Lord began to take me down memory lane and reveal to me the impact that my siblings played in who I became as a woman. The Lord then began to reveal to me the trauma’s that they have experiences and how that has played a major role in who they have become today.
Through some contention in the life of one of my brothers, the Lord began to give me the understanding that someone has to stand in the gap and be the first generational line breaker of the bloodline and he chose me. The word of God tells us in Psalm 133:1 that “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity”. The Lord has called us to be in unity with our siblings and we must stand in the gap and fight for their souls.
CATCH THE REVELATION THAT INTERCESSORY PRAYER WORKS!
One morning, my brother in Liberia called me about 11 times. When I finally answered he expressed to me that this was goodbye. He said that life has beaten him up so badly that he was giving up and he wanted me to forgive him but he could go on anymore. In the middle of the conversation he hung up and I immediately began to pray.
After maybe 10-15 minutes, he happened to call me back. Before he could even speak, I began to blast in tongues and declare scriptures over his life. The Lord then gave me instruction to turn down my plate. While in prayer, throughout that week, the Lord highlighted to me that my brother’s 40th birthday was coming up the next month and the enemy had an agenda to make sure my brother didn’t see the age of 40.
That same week, we did midnight prayers at my church home and our Apostle said he saw that the enemy wanted to take the life of one of our family members and he began to have us pray and cancel every appointment with death. This wasn’t the usual prayer point because Apostle really stayed on it for a while and we even took it in different angles and I knew he was talking about my brother.
The next day I spoke to my brother for the first time since the prior conversation and he sounded like a different person. He let me know that he’s never felt so helpless in his life and that the voices of suicide had never been that loud speaking to him before but he was feeling hopeful. He even began to quote scripture to me, that he was standing on. He also let me know that he was told by a Pastor that the enemy had an agenda to make sure he doesn’t make it to age 40 and I was in awe, the confirmation to what God had already revealed to me.
So I took that month very personal and went to war for the life of my brother because the Lord reveals to redeem so I know he revealed the enemy’s plot to me so I could cancel that appointment with death. During that month my brother got very sick and even got into a motorcycle accident where the driver almost died but we kept pushing.
Today, I am super grateful to say that I thank God and give him all the glory, honor, & praise that my brother made it to see 40 years old and will see many more ages to come up into his 90s+.
By way of prayers, intercession, and turning down my plate the enemy’s plans failed. This is what birthed out Praying for Our Siblings, my testimony is proof that prayer works.
